Reasons Why C3 Corvette Parts Are Still Good

By Patricia Cooper

The longest running Chevrolet sports car series spanned the years 1968 to 1982, one famous for the so called shark body of its various models. There have been many iconic models for this, some even main features of some TV shows. General Motors, the mother company, of these cars, no longer provides parts for the very popular vehicles of this line.

Some very thoughtful collectors have not failed to create good stocks for these, and this is so for all kinds of year models made. C3 Corvette parts will be available in markets today, and this is good for all owners who may be driving the same vehicles today. There are also those shops that can recreate imitation parts that can replace original ones, and they can even be licensed by GM.

The models that were most popular were coupes, some of which gave Euro sports cars a run for their money. These have little problems with availability, but these can be present for special models put out by the company from time to time. With these, you need to find good shops that might have stocked items for them, and these are fewer in number.

Engines here are V8, always done in small block, something like efficient engines for fighters, working in bodies taken from shark shapes. Many recognized designers were working with GM for these, and they were often brilliant and innovative. There were so many buyers of the brand that a lot of folks lump them with apple pie, rock and roll and astronauts.

The things have been known for their iconic effect to modern times in this country. And they are some of the most attractive of those that are found on highways here. Almost all models for this series had great production runs and many were sold. Accessories, designs, and high performance standards influenced these, and were also relevant to standards for all cars.

Distributors are trying to outdo each other in stocking all kinds of used and brand new items scoured through the heartland. There have been so many enthusiasts for the cars that it will take some time before the inevitable dry spell for parts will happen. Meantime, as the vehicles become collectibles, maintenance will become the consideration for owners as the years pass.

Items like batteries, chargers and starters are available and so are wing nuts, studs, filters and air cleaners. Bodies, frames, bumpers, hoods and other fiberglass stuff are also there for the taking. Distributors will recommend that if you buy several of each item, you should be able to make them last long enough to use for many years.

As said, these vehicles are iconic, but like all other cars have to run with a lot of different parts. Engine components are so varied and many that there is nothing but admiration for the way shops have manfully come up with complete lists on offer. Products made specific to this series are highly different from those being made today, and so there is no replication.

Usually, if you are an owner, you have to plan on things that can help out in the maintenance of these vehicles. If you won a Corvette made in this series, you are someone who is lucky, because not all models have this advantage. These are fast becoming classics, and in some sectors are already considered to be so.
